Vincennes City Council approved a 100-thousand dollar dedicated donation for the Pantheon Theater for the coming year. The amount is the same as Council gave for this year. That dedicated amount is part of an overall 150-thousand dollar line item for development assistance.
Brian Grove moved to cut the dedicated amount to 75-thousand dollars. That motion died on a 3-3 vote, with a “no” vote by Mayor Joe Yochum breaking the tie. The alternate 100-thousand dollar donation was approved 5-1, with Council president Brian Gove voting against it. In voting against the 75-thousand dollar dedication, both Regina Blinn and Ed Gornall voiced concerns about moving backward from last year’s donation.
After the amendment was approved, Council members approved the final budget unanimously. The City’s donation will join 185-thousand dollars already earmarked to the Panthoen from Knox County officials.
