The Knox County Commissioners are moving forward in the design process for the first part of an overall space re-allocation process for County buildings. The initial project will be construction of an Emergency Operations Center on the former Poor Farm grounds near Vincennes.
The office is planned to hold Knox County Central Dispatch, along with the Knox County Emergency Management and Coroner’s offices. Commissioner Trent HInkle says heads of those departments, along with architect Lara Dawson, have looked across the area for the perfect design. Also, Hinkle feels the new building’s bids and bid awards could also happen before 2024 comes to a close.
The second part of that process is tearing down the old Knox County Jail, and replacing it with a newly-built home for the County’s courts. The final part of the work would be 150-thousand dollars in renovations to the Knox County Courthouse.
