The Knox County Commissioners have approved the scematic design for the planned Emergency Operations Center at Tuesday’s session. The Center will be located on the grounds of the former Poor Farm near Vincennes.
Design firm R-Q-A-W is doing the design work. Lara Dawson of R-Q-A-W told the Commissioners the building would be a wood frame layout, with the Ceontral Dispatch area being constructed with concrete. Another part of the plan is to put up a monument to remember the ground’s previous use as the County’s Poor Farm facility. Some of the bricks from the old building could also be used for that monument.
Dawson also says if all goes to plan, the plan could be bid out in January. another update on the project is expected in the first Commissioners’ session in December.
