Deer counts have increased this year in Illinois, with increased hunting participation during the two weeks of firearm deer season. Overall, deer hunters in Illinois bagged nearly 82-thousand, 500 deer this season.
The largest take in Illinois area counties this year was once again from Crawford County, with 11-hundred 36 deer killed. Lawrence County had 727 deer caught, with 771 in Richland County, and 238 in Wabash County. All four of those counties saw higher deer intake numbers from 2023.
Hunters are reminded even though firearm hunting season is over in Illinois, deer season with bows and arrows continues there through January 19th.
