Melissa Ann “Vachon” Russell, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on January 13, 2025, in Evansville, IN, at the age of 39. Born on November 15, 1985, in Washington, IN, Melissa’s radiant spirit and loving nature left an incredible mark on everyone she met.
Melissa was a proud graduate of Washington High School and was well-known in her community through her dedicated work at JayC Food Store. A friendly and spirited individual, she was often seen sharing laughs and lending a helping hand to both customers and colleagues alike. Her loving and approachable demeanor made her a fixture in the community, where her presence will be profoundly missed.
Beyond her professional life, Melissa was a person whose world revolved around her family, especially her son, Weston Jean Russell. Her passion for creating cherished memories and embracing every moment of togetherness embodied the essence of her being. She will be tenderly remembered by her devoted son, who will continue to be inspired by her unconditional love and strength.
Melissa leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with her siblings, Bryan Vachon and Ghislaine Michelle Navarre; her doting nieces and nephews, Tyler Jacob Vachon, Bridgette Wanda Louise Vachon, Ella Rose Vachon, Patricia Jean Navarre, and Garett Marc VanPatten; and the joys of her later life, her great-niece Gabriela Marie Soto Ozoa and great-nephew Damian Omar Rivera Mojica. She is also held in fond remembrance by numerous friends whose lives she touched with her warm, friendly manner.
Her passing was preceded by that of her parents, Jean Marc and Cheryl Jeanne “Fields” Vachon, her loving grandparents, Hilaire and Rose-Aimée “Ferban” Vachon, George B. and Margie Fields, and her cherished aunt, Marsha Gail Stoll.
Melissa’s spirit will be carried forward through the stories, the smiles, and the love she shared. Her memory will remain a beacon of joy and affection in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
