Norma Jean Ball, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on December 17, 1931, in Bruceville, Indiana, Norma was a source of love and wisdom to all who knew her.
Norma grew up in the close-knit community of Bruceville and later attended and graduated from the Indiana School for the Deaf, where she developed lifelong friendships and a strong sense of resilience. On September 21, 1952, she married the love of her life, Forrest B. Ball, and together they shared many cherished moments until his passing.
She committed herself with great passion to her work as a cook at North Knox West Elementary School, where she served up both nourishment and nurturing smiles until her well-earned retirement. Her loving presence was also a staple in the Bruceville Christian Church, where she shared her faith and forged strong community ties.
Norma’s most treasured role was undoubtedly that of matriarch. She is survived by her devoted children, Patty Kixmiller (Curt) and Cathy Roberts (Kenny); her adored grandchildren, Lucas Roberts (Shelby), Lyren Holstein (Chris), and Alex Kixmiller (Lindsay); her seven cherished great-grandchildren, Mae, Elle, Jackson, Sophie, Ellie, Kali, and Gavin, and her brother, Dean Raymond Goodman. She was also a loving sister to her late siblings, Virginia Lee Stafford and Gordon Arthur Goodman, and is predeceased by her son, Joseph Edward Ball, and her parents, Raymond and Rusha O. Goodman.
Norma will always be remembered as the embodiment of love and a friend to all, touching lives with her friendly demeanor and wise counsel. With her passing, the world has lost a truly warm and generous spirit. Norma’s light, however, will continue to shine brightly through the family she held dear and the countless lives she touched.
Per her request, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to the Bruceville Christian Church. Online condolences and fond memories may be made at www.fredrickandson.com.
