Twenty teams from figh area high schools will complete in the semifinals of the First Founders competition. The contest highlights teams of entrepreneurs pitching certain products. The 20 finalists were whittled down from 52 original entrants.
The semifinals begin tonight at six at the Pantheon at Fifth and Main in Vincennes. Six of the twenty will move onto the finals tomorrow night, also at six at the Pantheon. The winning team will get three thousand dollars; second place gets two-thousand, and third place a thousand dollars. All those funds are to go toward the teams’ startup businesses.
Of the semifinalists, eight are from South Knox High School. Four come from Rivet, with three from Vincennes Lincoln and Pike Central high schools. North Knox has the other two semifinalists.
The First Founders competition is set up with a 40-thousand dollar block grant from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, or I-E-D-C.
