Robert H. McAllister, better known as Bob or Mac, 93, passed away at 10:00 pm on November 27, 2024, at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehab in Newburgh, IN surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on June 6, 1931, in North Conway, NH, the son of James Stillman and Ola (Hodsdon) McAllister. He married Eileen “Jeanie” McCord on July 20, 1958.
Bob was a proud graduate of Fryeburg Academy in Freyburg, Maine. After graduation he enlisted in the Untied States Air Force and served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Valdosta, GA and was proud of the fact he was Crew Chief for Chuck Yeager. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he was traveling through Indiana back to Maine and met his wife, Eileen “Jeanie”. Needless to say, he never made it back to Maine. Bob was a member of First Church of God and retired as a maintenance supervisor for Prestolite Battery Factory, later Allied Chemical. He then went to work in preventative maintenance at Vincennes University retiring in 1997. Bob was an avid woodworker and very active with the Vincennes Food Pantry. There was nothing he couldn’t do and loved being outside and he was never idle. Bob certainly changed with the times and technology and was always finding solutions for people who were going through challenging times. He never met a stranger, always made friends with anyone near. You could often hear him playing music on his kindle or talking on the phone to a friend or love one.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen “Jeanie” McAllister; daughter, Suzanne Theriac and her husband Ed of Newburgh, IN; his grandchildren, Nicole Theriac and her husband Shawn Pemberton, Cameron Theriac and his wife Cassandra; great grandchildren, Aurora Sturgeon and Cheyenne Theriac, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Stillman and Ola McAllister and his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Charlie Butler.
