Kelly Messer, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on December 20, 2024, at her home in Bicknell, IN. Born on March 15, 1961, in Vincennes, IN, Kelly’s life was defined by her kindness, wit, and unwavering thoughtfulness.
Kelly was a dedicated mother, a loving sibling, and a friend to all living creatures, as indicated by her many grand-cats who will miss her warm lap and gentle touch. She shared a bond of unconditional love with her daughters, Megan Messer and Lindsey Smith, alongside son-in-law Kaleb Smith. Her laughter and wisdom will be forever cherished by her brothers, Jacob “Jib” Blessinger Jr. (Vonda), Mike Blessinger (Brenda), and Joe Blessinger (Wynne).
Kelly’s life journey was pre-shadowed by the departure of her beloved husband, James Messer, who passed away on March 26, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Blessinger Sr. and Patricia “Kelly” Blessinger, as well as her mother-in-law, Emily Ellerman.
A proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Kelly spent her years making a home for her children and later shared her care and accuracy as a cashier working with multiple businesses in her community. Kelly’s joys were simple but deep; fishing and mushroom hunting were escapades that brought her close to nature and family, two of her greatest loves.
As the evening sun sets on a life so well-lived, we remember Kelly as the embodiment of love, humor, and thoughtfulness. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her influence will persist through the stories and smiles she left behind.
