It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marietta F. Earley, a beloved mother and devoted friend who left us peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on October 28, 1930 in Vincennes the daughter of Leo and Agnes (Mouzin) Steimel. She married John W. Earley on August 16, 1950 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1999. Marietta lived a life full of love, creativity, and unwavering faith.
A long-standing member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Bicknell and formerly an attendee of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Vincennes, Marietta found strength in her faith, which was the guiding light of her life.
Marietta was known for her varied talents and passions, which included quilting, crocheting, and gardening. Her gardening flourished as a testament to her nurturing spirit, and her culinary skills delighted many with wholesome meals and delectable treats, all prepared with a touch of love.
She is survived by her children, David Earley and his wife Marsha of Carlisle, IN, Daniel Earley and his wife Janet of Farmersburg, IN, Rick Earley and his wife Cheryl of Oaktown, IN, Patricia Earley of Vincennes, IN, Donna Roberts and her husband Carl of Washington, IN Gayle Kelley and her husband Jerry of Bicknell, IN, Nancy Gayle of Greenfield, IN; her brother, James Steimel of Washington, IN; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. Marietta is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Agnes Steimel, her husband, John W. Earley and two sons, John Douglas and Greg Earley.
Friends may visit with Marietta’s family from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN 47591. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Old Cathedral Catholic Church, 205 Church St., Vincennes, IN 47591 with Rev. Garrett Braun celebrating. Marietta will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with her husband John and her son Greg. The Earley family has requested memorial contributions be made to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 605 W 4th St., Bicknell, IN 47512.
