Reda Jean “Cary” Mullins, a cherished pillar of her community and a pillar of love and respect to her family, passed away peacefully in Bicknell, IN, on April 16, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on July 17, 1936, in Decker, IN, she was the beloved daughter of Roy and Adda “Huffer” Cary.
Reda attended her local high school, where she developed the nurturing spirit that would define her life. In a beautiful union on August 9, 1952, she married the love of her life, Louis Clifford Mullins. They built a warm home together where Reda’s talents and devotion as a homemaker nurtured a growing family. Radiating with a love that extended far beyond her family, and included all that befriended the family. She was an active member at Bicknell First Christian Church and a proud member of the Bicknell Elks.
She was the loving mother to her four children, Junior Mullins (Debbie), Rod Mullins, Joe Mullins, all of Bicknell, IN, and Susan Pershing (Barry) of Sullivan, IN. Reda’s legacy of love continued through her 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, each one carrying a piece of her heart and teachings.
Reda was predeceased by her devoted husband, Louis Clifford Mullins, her parents, her two cherished grandchildren, Brent and Julie Mullins, her two brothers, and one sister. In each role she filled, Reda was known for being unfailingly loving, friendly, and thoughtful. Her passions included canning, gardening, and ensuring her family felt the extent of her love and support in all aspects of their lives.
Reda Jean Mullins will be fondly remembered for the warmth and grace with which she approached every day and every person in her life. Her memory will be held in the hearts of those who had the fortune to know her, and the stories of love and kindness that will continue to inspire generations to come.
There will be a visitation held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Bicknell First Christian Church 309 E. 3rd Street Bicknell INfrom 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with service at 1:00 pm officiated by Pastor Mike Decoursey.
